Dealing with a small space? Use the back of your staircase for storage

Here at Stair Parts USA, we love unique storage solutions for the area behind, next to or under your staircase. Too often, this square footage is corralled into a large, dark closet that nobody really wants to use. Instead of wasting this valuable space, there are so many other creative ways to make the area under your stairs a valuable part of the home.

Today, we came across one that was particularly innovative. For small homes, it's no secret that storage space is at a premium. One house that was dealing with this problem opted to make the back of their staircase into book storage. Because of the shape of the structure, making shelves was fairly easy, and now they have are able to have a cozy reading nook where there would have been nothing.

If you're thinking of making use of the back of your staircase like this, it's important that you make your shelves match the steps. One easy way to do this is to order some wooden treads that match the ones on the front of your staircase. Making your new bookshelves match your wood stair parts is a great way to blend your books in with the rest of the design of your house.

When you live in a small space, you don't have a lot of room to spare. Make sure that no inches go to waste by creatively using your stairs for storage. This is just one of many ways to make your steps an integral part of your home decor.
