White Oak
White Oak is similar in nature and coloring to Red Oak; however, the graining rays on White Oak are longer than those of Red Oak. Because White Oak can react with metal, galvanized nails are the best choice when installing your stair treads. It can be stained to just about any finish and is a great choice for stair parts, especially stair treads since it holds up well under heavy traffic.
