6005 - Traditional 2-3/8"W x 7/8"H 6005 Shoerail w/1-1/4" Plow & Fillet (longer lengths stocked in Red Oak, Poplar, Hard Maple, and American Cherry)
PLOW - Order your plow (groove cut into the top side of the rail) to match your wooden baluster width.
FILLET - The fillet is a small strip of matching wood that will be used on the top side of your shoe rail between the balusters in order to give the upper side a smooth appearance.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT use a Plowed shoe rail with Iron Baluster installations.

We had an old oak colored rail above our staircase. It has survived 7 children and 23 grandchildren but it looked dated and the finish and wood were well worn. We decided to redo the inside of the house this Winter and this was part of the redo. I tore out the old and this is the new. See photo. At first I ordered the wood in unfinished poplar to keep the cost down. I was very disappointed in how the poplar looked when stained with a walnut stain. Costly mistake. Lesson learned. So I reordered unfinished oak. Stained it with the same honey walnut color and sealed it with polyurethane. Simply beautiful.
