Note: All of our 3-inch and 3.5-inch newels are made from laminated wood blanks (usually 2-4 pieces of wood), which is standard practice.

Headaches, but the company made it right.

After writing the review below, the company (finally) took this issue seriously. They refunded the cost of both newel posts and in my eyes, made things right. I’d give them 5 stars for their service, but the fact that they ignored my email requests and only reached out after I made negative reviews kept me from giving a fifth star.

I purchased the incorrect post the first time around. Company offered to cut down the restocking fee from 30% to 15% if I purchased another newel and paid to ship the original back. I sent a photo to their customer service team of the newel I needed and they told me which one to purchase. That newel was ALSO incorrect. Now I have two newel posts that I can’t use. After shipping and their restocking fees I would be losing $300 for the displeasure of purchasing from them. I’m fine with the first post, it’s my fault. But forcing me to ship and pay restocking for their error on the 2nd post is unbelievable. Garbage company. Don’t waste your money. Spare yourself the headache.

I’m sorry for the mix-up on your second order. Upon reviewing the photo again, which you sent us after mistakenly ordering the Plain version of the newel post instead of the Twisted version, I do see that your version of the newel that you needed to match to finish this project had a different style of Twisting (as well as some fluting on the urn and some carving on the acorn finial). I apologize for not catching these differences when we quickly discussed these over the phone and worked to rush this new order out for you. That’s certainly our fault, and I have just issued you a full refund for the second order. Apologies as well for my colleague not understanding what was incorrect about the second order when they sent you the return instructions for the second order.

We can still take back the first newel if you would like to return it. We’ll cover the restocking fee on that for you and can issue a shipping label at cost that will be deducted from the value of the returned newel once it has been received in good condition.
