The space under your staircase is often a great storage solution, but have you ever thought about taking it a step further and really maximizing that extra real estate?

If you have the space for it, why not transform the underside of your staircase into a small powder room? It’s a great way to take otherwise wasted space and give it a practical and functional purpose that will not only benefit your everyday living experience, but will increase the value of your home.

Turning the side wall of the staircase into a bookcase will add decorative and practical storage for books and more! You could even take it a step further and build a mini office by hollowing out the area and adding inset bookshelves or a built-in desk. It’s an excellent idea for those who would like a dedicated office space, but just don’t have the room otherwise.

Love to entertain? Turn that under staircase space into a wet bar. Add a countertop with a sink and mini fridge or store wine and a bar cart. Your staircase just got a whole lot more fun!

Have kids? Turn that space into a fun play area. Hollow it out and add a door and windows for a built-in play house.

If you decide to use one of our ideas or you have more fun ideas on how to transform the space under your stairs, share with us on Facebook or Twitter. We’d love to hear from you!
